This Irish political drama imagines the personal dynamic between Unionist firebrand Ian Paisley (Timothy Spall) and Sinn Fein’s Martin McGuinness (Colm Meaney), on a road trip in the lead-up to negotiations that would eventually bring an end to “The Troubles”. Directed by Nick Hamm, the film explores the crucial relationship behind the historic negotiations that would help shape Northern Ireland’s peace process and ultimately forge a most unlikely political partnership.

Crash survivor Penny (Leanne Best) retains her love for Bolan as an adult, but a pilgrimage to his shrine, and a chance meeting with a fellow survivor Jimmy (Timothy Spall), stir repressed memories, forcing her to finally reckon with the past. And confess a deception… A meditation on trauma’s long shadow and the healing power of music.

Elderly June (Helen Mirren), living with cancer, collapses and is taken to hospital. Her family members gather around but struggle to accept that she may not survive until Christmas, a mere two weeks away. Family tensions soon rise to the surface but will June’s honesty and determination be enough to smooth the way to her final farewell? A strong directorial debut for Kate Winslet with a fine ensemble cast also including Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Timothy Spall (of course!) and Winslet herself.
